Dr. Ibuathu Njati attended Kailutha primary School in Muthara Ward after passing from where he proceeded to Meru School after passing his KCPE exams, and later joined Kenyatta University after KCSE where he graduated with Honours in Bachelor of Education Science and later with Master of education in educational planning (Thesis Title: The Impact of Vocational Training for Rural Development in Nyambene District (Kenya): A case study of Muthara Youth Polytechnic).
Initially Dr. Ibuathu Njati worked with Teachers Service Commission teaching in secondary schools and later taught in Meru College of Science & Technology. He also taught in Nazarene University, Kenya Methodist University, and Mount Kenya University as an adjunct lecturer.
Due to his hard work and being strategic in his career, he joined Meru University College as an assistant lecturer to teach sociology and research methods. In 2010 he was appointed the chair person to Alcohol and drug substance abuse committee of the University College a portfolio he is serving to date. In 2012 Dr. Ibuathu Njati was appointed Chair Department of Economics in the School of Business and Economics where he developed the curriculum for Bachelor of Science in Economics and enrolled the first students admitted by the defunct Joint Admission Board in September 2013.
Upon graduating with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from Kenyatta University (Thesis Tile: Instructional Needs and Their Use in Preservice Training in Polytechnics in Isiolo, Meru, Embu and Machakos Counties, Kenya) Dr. Ibuathu Njati was appointed chair of Education Science where he developed the curriculum for Bachelor of Education Science.
Dr. Ibuathu Njati attributes his success to being focused in whatever he does under the guidance of God and soldiering forward and taking challenges as opportunities for improvement.
Dr. Ibuathu Njati is a well seasoned Senior Lecturer in education planning and management with outstanding experience in research, teaching and training spanning over 20 years. He has passion in research and has extensively researched on educational planning and management, sociology, technical education and entrepreneurship & emerging pedagogical training and learning. He has published extensively in these areas in international peer refereed journals besides presenting papers in international conferences.
Dr. Ibuathu has mentored, supervised and graduated several Master of Business Administration & Master of Education students He is mentoring and supervising other masters and Doctor of Philosophy students
Besides, he has chaired and continues to chair besides being a member of several University committees ranging from curriculum development, Alcohol and drug Abuse, Alumni; and several Ad-hoc committees such as Honoris Causa Committee among others.
Dr. Ibuathu Njati has earned specific and relevant skills and competencies in research, teaching and training in the following areas:

Won scholarship by Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies (DIES) International Deans’ Course (IDC) Africa 2021/2022-Organised by DAAD, German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), and the Centre for Higher Education in Germany (CHE), the Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences and the Alexander von Humbolt Foundation. Meru University of Science and Technology contributed10% 0f the total scholarship.
