Prof. Stephen Makau Mutua
Associate Professor
Prof. Makau Mutua is the Dean, School of Computing and Informatics of Meru University of Science and Technology since September, 2020. He holds a PhD in Systems Analysis and Integration from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, a Master of Science (Information Technology) and BSc (Computer Science) –First Class. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. His research interests in computing are: Deep Learning, Data Science, Artificial Neutral Networks (ANNs), Data Structures and Time Series Analysis. He has over 12 year’s progressive experience in academics, research and leadership. Throughout these years he has observed fidelity to diligence and integrity in teaching, examination and postgraduate students mentorship and has successfully supervised three (3) doctoral and three (3) masters students since appointment as a senior lecturer, and is still supervising several others. He has also been engaged as an external examiner in a number of Universities locally and regionally besides holding different leadership positions at the University. His research works has seen him publish over 30 articles in peer referred journals and conferences. He is a strong believer of integrity and service to humanity without fear, favor or discrimination and aspires to serve the world in providing quality and humane leadership and guidance.
